Energy
Whether you are terrified about climate change, concerned about the dwindling supply of oil or you just wish there wasn’t so much traffic roaring through the countryside, profligate energy use is a global problem with very local impacts.
There are many groups responding to energy issues in the Wychwood area: schools, low-carbon villages, CRAGs, cyclists; even the district council. Our network aims to promote the work these organisations are doing, and to link people with experience and skills in energy saving techniques with others who want to learn them.
We also give talks on practical ways to reduce energy consumption for Wychwood residents; recent examples include these on Personal Carbon Rationing and Low Carbon Homes.
What can you do? Walk to the shops, cycle to work, turn the thermostat down, fly less or not at all, install a wood-burning stove, embrace public transport, buy a Sheila Maid, eat local food or grow your own, switch to a green electricity supplier, change your light bulbs and hassle your MP. Then start on your friends!
